Our Updates are an important way to keep in touch with customers, past and present, and iris lovers generally. We are seeing a steady increase in the mailing list month on month. Moreover word of mouth referrals work best and, if you like what we do, please mention us to your gardening friends send them this link.
SPECIAL RESERVE BEARDED IRISES
New Initiative – In April 2024 we are launching the Special Reserve Collection to include irises that are exclusive to the English Iris Company. This comprises a combination of newly registered varieties and Dykes Medal Award Winning Irises. In each case, these have never previously been available commercially.
Rationale– Moving the iris collection provides an opportunity to expand the range of irises we offer. At present we sell approx twenty five different irises and have in addition at least another twenty named varieties, but in smaller quantities. Our future plans include making a number of these other varieties available to the market in small quantities. They will be released first to our Subscribers.
This has the double benefit of increasing the numbers of iris varieties in circulation, but critically it will help ensure these rare irises survive in future.
Our Offer– These top notch Irises are hybridised to the same excavating standard that is the hallmark of the ‘Dodsworth’ Collection. They are all rare, exclusive and are being released in small batches (sometimes less than twenty plants). They will be sold initially at a premium price of £25.
We recognise that the demand may be limited, but are clear from the positive Subscriber feedback that some customers really welcome the opportunity to extend their iris collections.

ORDERING SPECIAL RESERVE BEARDED IRISES
Subscriber Offer – Subscribers have the first chance to purchase these plants before they go on the open market and will have exclusivity for fourteen days. In future we will email Subscribers in advance with details of any Special Reserve releases as they become available. The quantities are limited (normally between 10-50), and if interested you need to respond quickly as plants will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
This is our positive commitment to Subscribers and shows some of the benefits from being on the mailing list and part of our iris community.
Please note that:
- You have fourteen days before the plants go on general release.
- We will process orders in sequence.
- Each Subscriber can buy up to five irises (with a max of three irises per variety). There is a three iris limit on orders from the general public. You can order Special Reserve Irises together with other irises fr0m the main Collection at the same time.
