My Perfect Iris Annabel Jane
I am often asked ‘what is my favourite iris’? This is never an easy question to answer. Irises are personal, and what makes an iris special depends on many different characteristics: colour, shape and form, impact, fit with other irises, and finally plant vigour.
Many customers are new to growing irises, and I am always keen to provide help/advice and enthuse the newcomer. My choice, whether to a novice or expert, is always the same. ‘If you have space for only one iris in your garden, it must be Annabel Jane!’ Introduced in 1973, this Classic Tall Bearded Iris has stood the test of time and is just as good today as it was when introduced fifty years ago. I would never be without it.
Annabel Jane
This is a truly fabulous plant. Striking, great flowers, terrific branching, ‘bomb-proof – robust and dependable’, and bulks up well, and never disappoints. What more could you ask of a plant in your garden?
