1) British Iris Society
If you enjoy irises and the extraordinary range of different species, why not consider joining the British Iris Society (BIS)? British Iris society Membership costs £14 per year (with a further £1 per family member) and entitles you to free visits to the Shows they hold around the country.
There are regular Newsletters, garden visits and options to join other local groups around the country. Finally, they issue an authoritative Year Book which keeps you up to date with all iris news.
I have been a member for many years and feel its money well spent.
2) The Historic Iris Group
This is a new Group under the Chairmanship of Patricia Roberts who holds a significant collection of Historic Irises in her hillside garden in Italy. The Group falls within the remit of the British Iris Society and comes free to those with British Iris Society Membership. The Group addresses the needs of those in the UK and Europe who have an interest in growing historic varieties of irises. This may be of interest also to our Subscribers.
Some of the older irises that we grow count as ‘historic’ and I am a member of the newly formed Group. Membership comes at no additional cost provided you are already a member of the British Iris Society.
