Dotterel
We are delighted to introduce Dotterel an early Flowering Bearded Iris, an unusual ‘amoena’ with white standards and buff/cream falls.
This Early Flowering Bearded Iris is a great addition to the Collection. First, it is a great iris, but secondly, and just as important, is that it is the earliest iris to flower in my garden by well over a week! This makes it a particularly useful iris in your iris collection and allows you to extending the iris bloom period considerably. This is something that all irises lovers should strive to do.
Building Your Collection
Forming part of versatile ‘Soft‘ Collection, this exceptional White/Buff/Cream Bearded Iris has perfect flower shape and classic ‘Dodsworth ‘branching.
Mixing with other Colours
Our Irises combine clear clean colours, great branching and perfect flower shape to create a ‘Perfect’ Iris.
DotterelBearded Iris is great grown on its own, or try it with other ‘Softs’, particularly Eileen Louise that flowers approx 7/10 days later. Plant it with ‘Hots’ for contrast, notably ‘Red Pike‘ flowering 7/10 days later. Alternatively, use it to with ‘Cools’ where Darley Dale is a good match, but adds contrast as well. Finally, try adding one of the late flowering ‘Pinks’ (Sherwood Pink or Century Pink) to extend the iris season to the full.
Registered in 1998 by Bryan Dodsworth. Tall Bearded Iris 34″ (86 cm) tall. Early Bloom; White Standards and Tan falls. Beard Yellow. Marmelade Skies X Champagne Elegance.
